As Will Justice lay helpless on the stranger’s bed, his heart raced and sweat trickled down his forehead. His eyes darted frantically around the room, desperate to find some means of escape from the dire predicament he found himself in. The zip ties bit into his wrists and ankles, leaving them numb and tingling, and the cloth gag made it difficult for him to breathe properly. But it was the grenade, attached to him by a thin thread around his neck, that filled him with unspeakable terror.
With every shallow breath, he could feel the weight of the explosive device pressing against his chest. He knew he had to be careful not to jostle it too much or accidentally pull on the thread that held it there. The slightest wrong move and he would be reduced to nothing but a bloody, dismembered mess.
Tears welled up in his eyes as he struggled against his bonds, his muscles burning with the effort. He couldn’t understand why this was happening to him. He had dedicated his life to fighting crime and making the city a safer place, and now he was about to be blown up by his own enemies. His mind raced, searching for some way out of this nightmare.
Time seemed to slow down as he stared at the grenade, willing it to disappear, to be nothing more than a bad dream from which he could soon awaken. But he knew that wasn’t going to happen. The men who had captured him were not going to let him go so easily. They had gone to great lengths to ensure that he couldn’t interfere with their plans this time around.
A single tear trickled down his cheek, mingling with the sweat that had already soaked his face. He didn’t know how much longer he could hold on. The thread was growing tauter by the second, and he could feel the grenade pressing harder against his chest with every breath he took. His heart raced, and he felt a cold chill run down his spine as he realized that this might very well be the end.
