Armani hurriedly jumps into action, his heart racing as he tries to focus on his new role as the doctor’s robot. He begins to gather up the scattered cushions, carefully stacking them into neat piles. His movements are stiff and awkward, but he does his best to imitate the robotic demeanor he saw in movies. The doctor, Dc Smith, watches him intently, his expression a mix of surprise and uncertainty.
Armani feels sweat trickling down his back as he works, his mind whirling with thoughts of how he can get out of this mess. He steals a glance at the open laptop he had found earlier, wishing he had taken the time to read more of its contents. Maybe there was some valuable information he could have used to his advantage. But now it’s too late; all he can do is play along and hope for the best.
As Armani continues to tidy up the living room, the doctor speaks again, his voice sounding almost amused. “You’re doing a great job, Armani. I’m impressed with your dedication. By the way, what is your model number?” The question catches Armani off guard, and he hesitates for a moment before replying, “Um, my model number is RT-9000, sir.” He forces a metallic inflection into his voice, trying to sound robotic.
The doctor nods, seeming satisfied with the response. “Well, Armani RT-9000, I think it’s time for you to take a break. You’ve earned it. Why don’t you sit down in that armchair and relax for a while?” Armani’s heart sinks; he was hoping to find a way out of the house before anyone noticed his presence. But he knows he has no choice; he has to play along. With a heavy sigh, he sits down in the armchair, his muscles aching from the tense position he’s been in.
The doctor walks over to the nearby bookshelf and begins browsing through the titles. “By the way, Armani, have you ever read any of these books?” he asks, gesturing to the collection of books on robotics and artificial intelligence. “No, sir,” Armani replies, his voice now genuinely curious. “I’ve never had the chance to explore those subjects before now.” The doctor grins, and for a moment, Armani thinks he sees a twinkle of mischief in his eye. “Well, Armani RT-9000, it seems like you’ve found the perfect opportunity to learn something new. Why don’t you start with this one?” He hands Armani a book titled “The Science of Human Replica Robots: An Overview of Design and Functionality.”
